About Akankssha

In a rare gesture some doctors in the city teamed up and floated Akankssha charitable trust for an all volunteer, non profit organization dedicated to providing professional health care services to the deserving poor in twin cities as well as other part of the state.

In the days of deteriorating health standards, where Doctors fight for the patients and society blaming medical community for unaffordable medical help here is a Ray of Hope for less privileged.

Akankssha has decided to open 'VISHRANTI' a Terminal Care Center for terminally ill deserving poor persons.

By the time person reaches last stage of Cancer or Aids, all the efforts & resources of the family are exhausted. Nobody is willing to spend money, when they come to know that nothing will now cure that person. Medically he is terminally ill & only waiting to die.

The person who lived with respect dignity affection caring helping joyful family member is now totally discarded, cast off humiliated, scolded, chided & looked down, with contempt & resentment.

No adjectives, or descriptions, would comprehensively describe the plight and suffering of a person in last stage of Cancer or Aids.

It is here, that we feel we can do good humanitarian service. In his last days, too, he is looked after nicely giving dignity & affection.

This is the concept of TERMINAL CARE CENTRE presented by 'Akankssha'

Every aspect of our needs & activities are now being taken care of more efficiently by the people trained in their faculty.  For instance, the example of Residential School. We know very well that we cannot give all round developing education to our child at home.  So we send them to Boarding School.

In a similar context we now look at the care of our Senior Citizens. The elderly are not taken care of as effectively as we really desire, when they are at home. We have come across many NRI families also, who expressed concern about the well being of their elders back home. It is the same when husband & wife go to work. Some thing good needs to be done.

We at Akankssha plan to set up "SEVA" the Senior Citizen Care Center.
Every small aspect for the care of elderly i.e. Companion Ship, Comfort, Medical Aid, Security, religious activity, would be taken care of -- a really Comprehensive place of Peace & Health, would be set up .

In addition, the society needs to be helped in the following.

1) Education of Girl Child
2) Women Entrepreneurship
3) Exposure to the hidden talent

To help raise funds to set up these centers, Akankssha Charitable trust is organizing Entertainment programs ,workshops on personality development, exhibitions , Premier Shows and other Events.

In India and Internationally too, more doctors are volunteering for Charity. In a survey done on professional issues in May this year in US it was found that General surgeons , Psychiatrists and Sub specialists in internal medicine were more likely to provide charity care than other Physicians

we thought to appeal our fellow professionals in the medical fraternity as well as in other professions to come forward to offer their free time / services / guidance / articles / funds etc to achieve this Noble mission. Such professionals may please contact the Trust office on our E-mail: info@akankssha.org
